The Human HEart

Dive Deeper
the story behind the song
I wrote "The Human Heart" at the very start of the COVID-19 outbreak. I noticed, as people were practicing social distancing, it actually ended up bringing many people closer together. Without all the distractions of obligatory social events and the day-to-day hubbub we are normally inundated with, people started turning their attention to what was important to them. People found new ways of interacting with their loved ones. Others turned to their creative projects or hobbies. Although this sudden change in the world brought a lot of stress, depression, and anxiety to us all, having a common enemy has brought us closer together than we ever were before. Sometimes we just need a reminder that we all share the human heart.
I collaborated with Skae, An Italian producer, to help bring this song to life. Check out his other work on Spotify or Apple Music, and make sure to follow him on Instagram for more great tunes!
lyrics
by Arthur Kody
The world is quiet. We’re all waiting for a sound. It’s in the silence that we find the answers now. It’s nothing normal, but everything’s the same. We found a common enemy 'cause we need someone to blame. We’re the writers if life is just a song. And we’re the fighters. We fight so we don’t belong. And, in the madness, when chaos closes in, there’s a sadness as we shed our rusty skin.
We are all afraid of something we can’t see. We’ve torn apart our roots to separate the “you” from “me”. But, in the darkest nights when fear holds us apart, we start to remember that we share the human heart.
Are you frightened? You can rest your head on me. The sky has brightened enough for us to see the Earth is changing. 'Cause the Earth has always changed. We’re the ones who use our tongues to say what is “okay”. We were divided and clinging to our hope. We decided that we shouldn’t be so close. But, now we’re closer than we’ve ever been before. 'Cause even though we’re locked inside, we’ve opened every door.
We are all afraid of something we can’t see. We’ve torn apart our roots to separate the “you” from “me”. But, in the darkest nights when fear holds us apart, we start to remember that we share the human heart.
